If you want to do prop trading, or get proprietary trading jobs, you don’t necessarily need a degree or diploma. Of course, if you are still at school it is HIGHLY recommended that you take an MBA program with finance as an emphasis, or get a master’s in financial engineering to make sure you have the skills necessary. If you do this, you can apply through convential graduate recruitment schemes to become an employee at a proprietary trading firm and start your trading career off with a salary.
That’s far preferable to trading independently. However, there are ways to get around the “education” hurdle and get proprietary trading jobs regardless of your education. You have to be willing to take some risk in order to do that, because you’re going to have to get some experience to show you can do the job and to show that you have a passion for trading, too.
Got any experience?
